For small businesses, sole practices and non-profits, here are the details of what you get, and how we do it.

On average, the whole process is expected to be completed within 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the scope of the website required, and the readiness of your content, provided that it does not consist of more than 10 informational pages. If you need help preparing your content, we can assist with that ourselves or with our network of copywriters for an additional charge.

Discovery

Where we work out exactly what you want and take the decisions that need taking.  We start with a questionnaire and follow-up with a phone call to go through the detail of your project. By the end we’ll have a website sitemap, an understanding of your design requirements, and a checklist of any functionality needed.

Setup

Next, we set up your web hosting (at an agreed, reputable host) and install and configure the WordPress content management system (CMS). We install our toolkit of recommended plugins for additional functionality, and customise the editing interface further to tailor it to your specific needs.

Content

We receive your text, image and PDF content, help you organise it, and upload and format everything, laying it out on pages, news items, events and other content types. If you need high quality imagery and content, then we’ll help you find it, although those will incur additional charges or licence fees as necessary.

Design

To keep costs down we take a ready-made, ‘premium theme’ of your choice as a starting point – we’ll help you pick the right one from thousands of possibilities. Our designer then goes to work to customise it and make it your own, changing logo, fonts, icons, imagery, text and other structural changes.

Functionality

Now we add the clever stuff: extra functionality that allows your website to pull its weight. A blog, publications archive, staff profiles, advanced site search, contact forms, and interactive maps are all included if required.

Please note that using some premium third-party services for special functions may attract additional one-off or recurring licence fees, payable to the suppliers.

Marketing

Since your website is only one part of your online marketing strategy, we join it up with the rest, integrating your social networks (such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram), mailing list (Mailchimp or your preferred tool), and preferred video publishing platform.  We’ll make it easy to share content between several channels.

Changes

Once this first draft is complete, we give you two rounds of changes to incorporate any revisions or new ideas that arise once you see it.  After this, you sign off the website.

Training

We’ll teach you how you to update your website, through a mix of video tutorials, written instructions and another call.

Testing

Once all changes are made, we go over the site with a fine-toothed comb, testing for accessibility, code quality, SEO issues, legal compliance, and on leading browsers and mobile devices.

Launch

All that’s left is to launch the site:  we backup your old site if you had one, make the necessary changes to your domain name, update all settings, open it to the world, and tell Google and Bing about it. We install Google Analytics to track site visitors, and Google Search Console to monitor site health issues.

Extras

Except where indicated, all of the work above is included in our £3,000 package.  Some software services, premium images and photos may require additional fees or licences payable to their suppliers publishers. Additional content creation and copywriting services start at 50% of the standard package fee.  You should also consider the ongoing costs of your website:  hosting, backups, technical maintenance and any marketing services you might need.  We can recommend affordable options for these.
